MPMovie - Online Movie Listings for Moving Pictures (MediaPortal)

MPMovie is an asp.net 4.0 application designed to take your Moving Pictures database from MediaPortal and make it available online.

There are a couple of compelling uses for this.  Firstly, you get an A-Z listing of your movies along with the summary, IMDB score, genre, directors, actors and viewer rating.  You already get all this in Moving Pictures, but there is more... much more...

MPMovie takes it further by providing a quick alphabet jump list on the left column so you can quickly find the movie you are looking for without endless scrolling.  It provides a good quick reference list to your collection without having to navigate around MediaPortal, then Moving Pictures - it's all done in your browser.

Probably the most compelling feature of MPMovie is the inclusion of trailers against each movie.  That's right - one of the most asked for features for Moving Pictures is available right now in MPMovie and you don't need to build your own trailer collection!  Trailers actually uses the google video widget which is seeded by a search against each movie title.  The search only takes place after you click to see available previews so you don't need to wait forever for a list to propagate.  And since the list is live, new trailers are available all the time with no effort from yourself.  Trailer matching is in the high 90 percentile range for english language movies.

The last feature MPMovie provides is a social aspect.  Friends can select a list of movies they would like more info on, click send, and a list of those movies will be sent straight to your email address.  You can then give them feedback on those chosen movies.

MPMovie is something I find I'm using all the time, it's not just something I wrote and put aside as an interesting project.  It really is very useful.

An online demonstration is available below.  A sample of movie titles was used from IMDB along with some dummy video files to generate a decent demo list.  Email has been disabled in this demo:
